Student Organizations

Students are encouraged to build their leadership skills, create networking opportunities, and develop long-lasting friendships.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

The Georgia Southern University Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is affiliated with National SHRM, which is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management, representing more than 275,000 professional and 19,000 student members in over 140 countries.

We are a Merit Award winning chapter that provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight into HR Management, promoting awareness and networking within the HR profession. Georgia Southern SHRM advances students’ skills and abilities by providing resources through education, networking, career guidance, and HR activities.

Southern Hospitality Executives

The Southern Hospitality Executives is a student organization focused on enhancing in-class learning in hospitality through experiential opportunities. These opportunities are designed to provide direct interface with industry events, locales, and players. The group is focused on arranging hospitality oriented travel opportunities each term. This includes travel to known tourist destinations, behind the scenes tours of major hospitality assets/areas, meet and greet opportunities with industry executives, and career and hiring guidance. The club also holds local events at hospitality venues on a monthly basis (tastings tours, contests). Some light fund raising is expected and dues are $30 (to be eligible for sponsored travel events). The club is open to all students regardless of major or year.

Internships

Internships help you better integrate academic knowledge with practical applications. Exposure to management practices and business environments can also help you decide which career path is right for you and help jumpstart your career before entering the workforce on a permanent basis. Management students have recently been offered internships by BMW, Georgia Pacific, Gulfstream, and Nestle.

Further information about Internships can be found here.
