Leverage your expertise to invest in the quality of future classroom instruction. In the GaPSC-approved Teacher Support and Coaching Endorsement program at Georgia Southern University, you’ll get equipped to mentor and support pre-service, induction-phase and experienced educators as they train and grow their skills and effectiveness.
Through the fully online coursework, you’ll study the theories and best practices of mentoring and coaching and learn to develop actionable plans for mentee support. In the field experience component, completed in your current school setting, you’ll have a chance to implement your new knowledge and receive feedback from experienced teacher trainers.
Upon program completion, you’ll have the tools and real-world framework to step into new roles and extend your impact beyond your own classroom.

What You’ll Learn
This endorsement program consists of a two-course sequence.
- In the first, Introduction to Teacher Support and Coaching, you’ll examine mentoring and coaching theories, explore best practices, and learn to support teachers who are learning or honing their craft.
- The second course is a field-based internship, during which you’ll demonstrate and apply the knowledge, skills and dispositions of supportive supervision.
Internship
The program culminates in a field-based experience that allows you to practice key support and mentoring skills while receiving feedback from your clinical supervisor and program faculty. Your internship will be tailored to your certification area for maximum career relevance.

The Teacher Support and Coaching Endorsement program is open to those with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
You must hold a valid Level 4 or higher Professional, Advanced Professional or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, Life certificate or service certificate. Educators admitted to the program holding leadership, Life or service certificates must have held a Professional teaching certificate.
To apply, please submit:
- An online application to the College of Graduate Studies. (There is a $50 non-refundable application fee.)
- A recommendation to serve as a Teacher Support and Coach (TSC) from a local unit of administration or school administrator. The recommendation form can be found here. Have the recommender submit the form directly to gasc@georgiasouthern.edu.
- A completed “Disclosure and Affirmation Form” that addresses misconduct disclosure, the Code of Ethics for Educators and tort liability insurance. (This is included within the online application.)
International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-accredited evaluation service and must be a course-by-course evaluation and include a GPA.
Application Deadline
Students are admitted to begin the program only in the summer term. The application deadline is April 15.
