Some of what it takes to be a great nurse, like boundless empathy or tireless energy, cannot be taught. Increasingly, though, employers expect registered nurses (RNs) to have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. While these bachelor’s programs introduce leadership, communication and technical skills, they also equip nurses to excel to achieve an even more important goal: Studies show their patients enjoy better outcomes.
Georgia Southern’s RN to BSN program delivers the additional knowledge, skills and attitude registered nurses need to serve patients in today’s demanding and complex health care environment — and earn the higher pay that comes with a BSN designation. The RN-BSN courses are delivered asynchronously to accommodate the schedules of working nurses. This allows students to complete assignments around their schedules.

What Can You Do With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing?
Get ready for the crunch: Georgia is facing the second-biggest shortfall of registered nurses in the entire country by 2035, according to the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration. When you upgrade your credentials with a BSN degree, you are showing employers that you are ready to take the next step in your career — and that you are serious about staying in the field for years to come. That does not just put you in line for additional opportunities: It also boosts your earning potential and sets you up to specialize your knowledge further with a graduate degree in nursing.
