Why Earn a Gifted In-Field Endorsement at Georgia Southern?

  • Earn the endorsement in just one year.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of fully-online coursework.
  • Gain 80 hours of hands-on experience.
  • Curriculum approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GPSC).

This program’s coursework has been planned for candidates to participate in systematically designed field experiences in the grade level of their certification. These settings provide you with opportunities to observe, practice and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions you learn about in your course of study. Throughout the program, you will learn about institutional, state, and national best practices for teaching gifted learners.

Alongside experienced faculty, you will explore how gifted learners grow and develop. We focus specifically on how individual patterns of learning and development vary due to cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and cultural differences. With those differences in mind, you will learn how to design and teach developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences for your students in learning contexts that enable them to meet high standards. You will also learn how to use multiple methods of assessment to engage your students’ growth.

This endorsement offers candidates a high level of flexibility. While each of the endorsement’s four courses requires 20 hours of field work, the 12 credit hours are fully-online and can acclimate to any schedule or situation.
