Instructional Technology Programs Overview

Learn about Georgia Southern’s instructional technology programs and the career paths they unlock.

What You’ll Learn

The curriculum combines three different elements, each focused on the domain of education. First, you’ll strengthen your research skills by applying learning and assessment principles in your present work setting. Then, you’ll deepen your understanding of pedagogy, exploring theories and models of instructional design. Finally, you’ll explore current trends and critical issues in instructional technology and school library media and how to lead the adoption of new approaches and tools.

In a capstone project, you’ll synthesize what you’ve learned to conceptualize and implement a professional development activity centered on your area of concentration.

Concentrations

You’ll select a concentration in alignment with your current area of certification — either instructional technology or school library media. Throughout your program coursework, you’ll focus your research and assignments in this domain, customizing your studies to strengthen your career preparation.

“This degree did two things for me. It solidified my knowledge about how to teach both teachers and students to be 21st-century learners. It also prepared me to easily transition my school over to distance learning and provide a marriage, so to speak, of technology and education.”
