What You’ll Learn
Software engineering majors learn how to design, develop and maintain complex computer systems. Core courses teach you essential software engineering skills, such as application and systems software development, full-stack engineering, cyber security and software quality assurance.
Students will also explore programming principles, data structures, database systems, human computer interaction, modern software development, game programming and much more. You’ll build technical expertise, while also strengthening your creativity, problem-solving and collaboration skills through opportunities for hands-on experience and research.

While completing the Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, you can expand your knowledge in the software engineering field by earning a specialization certificate. Based on the set of electives you choose, you’ll receive a certificate in one of the following specializations:
Big Data and Analysis
The Certificate in Big Data and Analytics provides essential skills in data analysis, mining and machine learning. It complements the BS in Software Engineering by enabling students to develop data-driven software solutions.
Cyber and Software Security
The Certificate in Cyber and Software Security equips students with key skills in safeguarding software systems and data. It enhances the BS in Software Engineering by focusing on cybersecurity principles and practices for secure software development.
Game Programming
The Certificate in Game Programming provides foundational skills in game design and development. It complements the BS in Software Engineering by focusing on creating interactive and engaging software experiences.
Mobile Systems
The Certificate in Mobile Systems equips students with skills in mobile app development and design. It enhances the BS in Software Engineering by focusing on creating efficient, user-friendly mobile applications.

- Once complete, pay the $30 application fee or upload a valid fee waiver. Previous Georgia Southern applicants and dual enrollment students do not need to pay the fee.
