Involvement Opportunities

The School of Nursing is pleased to offer multiple involvement opportunities to nursing students. These involvement opportunities provide leadership, research and skill development for our future nurses. We suggest students become involved in the Student Nursing Association or the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. View a complete list of all student organizations offered at Georgia Southern University.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing

History

Efforts to establish a local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing began in 1985 between the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro and the Department of Nursing at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia. A joint chapter between the two institutions was founded and the first induction ceremony was held on May 3, 1990.

Since the initial chartering of that first chapter, membership and activity in Sigma Theta Tau continued to grow. In October 2002, members at each university were approved to form independent chapters.

With the consolidation of Georgia Southern University and Armstrong State University in 2018, the two independent chapters once again reunited to form the single Rho Psi Chapter with membership and activities to include both campuses of Georgia Southern University.

Study Abroad Courses in Ireland

Expand your knowledge and explore research in Wexford, Ireland.

Wexford is the name of a town in southeast Ireland founded by Vikings over 800 years ago. Historical, attractive, lively and safe, Wexford Town and the surrounding Wexford County are about two hours by road or rail from Dublin. Due in part to almost two centuries of trade and emigration links between Wexford and the city of Savannah, Georgia Southern University selected the location as its European study abroad and research campus.

MOU Information

MOU Request/Renewal Form: Faculty and staff please contact Jennifer Hoopes at 912-344-2565 for the form. Students needing access to the form need to contact their clinical coordinator.
This list includes all sites for which GS Waters College of Health Professions currently has an active, fully executed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in place to facilitate student internships and clinical rotations. The list is intended to be used by students as a resource to identify a potential site of interest for their internship hours. For example, a student from Atlanta may wish to locate a site within the Atlanta area. After reviewing the list, students should discuss the options with their program coordinator for planning purposes. Students should NOT contact a site directly.
