Office of Undergraduate Research
The Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering & Computing Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is the primary resource for faculty and undergraduate students who wish to engage in research. Most of the College’s faculty members, and all of its tenure-track faculty, not only engage in research but also encourage their students to participate so you can apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world applications in cutting-edge research topics.
The College offers three primary ways for undergraduate students to participate in laboratory research. One is our annual Undergraduate Research Awards, for which proposals are solicited in the fall semester, and for which the Dean awards funds primarily for supplies and materials. Two is our annual Student Research Symposium, at which all College students are encouraged to present their work in research to industry representatives and professionals. Some Symposium projects may be funded by industry, and a panel of judges awards significant prizes to the most impressive presentation. Finally, many faculty direct working research laboratories in which students conduct research — you are encouraged to talk with any professor whose work you find interesting.
