Economic Hardship Information

If you are feeling the effects of the recent economic downturn, the Georgia Southern University Department of Financial Aid understands and is here to help you. Our staff is dedicated to working with you and your family to review your special circumstances in the hope we can assist in your needs and academic goals. While we cannot predict the outcome of any application process, we can assure you:

  • It is not too late to apply for loans for the current academic year. Complete a FAFSA if you have not already.
  • The Department of Financial Aid is available to consult individually with students/families experiencing changing financial circumstances. We can review your Special Circumstances and potentially adjust your income due to changes in your economic situation since filing your FAFSA.
  • The Department of Financial Aid can provide access to and assistance with the parent loan (PLUS) process.

If you have any additional concerns, please consult the remainder of our website or visit our offices on the second floor of the Rosenwald Building, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. After-hours appointments are also available. You may reach us at (912) 478-5413 or finaid@georgiasouthern.edu.

Georgia Southern University cares about your financial situation and knows that you may need confidential sources to offer advice about your options. The Department of Financial Aid encourages you to make our staff your first point of contact for information about financing your education.
