Federal regulations require Georgia Southern University to disclose whether its licensure-related degree programs meet U.S. jurisdictions’ (states and territories) educational requirements for licensure (34 CFR 668.43(a)(6)).
A jurisdiction’s professional licensing boards often require applicants for licensure to meet multiple requirements, including specific educational requirements. An institution’s program might meet all the educational requirements in one jurisdiction, but not another (for example, an applicant might need to complete an additional class).
Please refer to the list below to determine if the Georgia Southern University programs in which you have an interest meet the educational requirements specified by the associated licensing board in your jurisdiction. For online programs, the university may not be able to enroll you if we are not authorized to operate in that state or cannot meet that state’s educational requirements.
International Applicants and Students
Georgia Southern Online provides the ability to access courses and programs nearly anywhere in the world. While we carefully monitor requirements for licensure and certification in all US states and territories, we do not monitor the requirements for licensure or certification outside the United States. It is the student’s responsibility to understand the licensure or certification requirements for their country and to determine if the program meets those requirements. Some countries may not formally recognize foreign online degrees which may have implications for students who later seek to enroll in other educational programs, or for those who seek employment requiring specific credentials.
If you’re considering enrolling in an online program that leads to a professional license, contact the appropriate professional licensing board in your country of residence or the country where you intend to work to determine whether an online degree or US license will be recognized.
