BS in Multimedia Journalism

B.S. in Multimedia Journalism

The basic tenets underlying journalism — accuracy, timeliness and fairness — are as true today as ever. But the way reporters work is continually evolving. A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Multimedia Journalism from Georgia Southern University prepares you to meet your audience where they are as you learn to deliver information using writing, audio, video and other formats.

Locations

  • Statesboro Campus (In Person)

Why Major in Multimedia Journalism at Georgia Southern?

  • Refine your voice and vision with paid positions for student publications.
  • Complete an internship to see how a newsroom works.
  • Learn your craft from veteran editors and reporters.
  • Put your profession in perspective: Georgia Southern earns top marks for teaching journalism history.
  • 124 credit hours to completion.

Journalists aren’t just skilled storytellers. They’re also adept at the techniques needed to share those stories and become knowledgeable observers of the issues facing society.

Students in the bachelor’s in multimedia journalism program explore the theory and practice behind the profession while also taking liberal arts classes to build a deeper understanding of the world around them. Through this combination, graduates gain the skills and perspective needed to work for newspapers, online and specialty publications, magazines and other outlets.

And while journalism is changing quickly, Georgia Southern commits to helping students understand the foundations of the profession — the only one specifically protected in the U.S. Constitution. The American Journalism Historians Association ranks our Department of Communication Arts among the nation’s best in terms of teaching journalism history, keeping pace with other renowned programs.
