Field Experiences and Clinical Practice

Hands-On Preparation for Future Educators

Field experiences and culminating clinical practice are essential components of all initial educator preparation programs in the College of Education at Georgia Southern University. These hands-on learning opportunities prepare teacher candidates for success in diverse educational settings.

The Office of Field Experiences and Clinical Practice facilitates all placements and coordinates clinical practice in collaboration with academic departments, local public schools (Clinical Associates and Clinical Supervisors), and international partners.

Georgia Southern maintains strong, long-standing partnerships with P–12 schools to offer a wide range of high-quality field experience and clinical practice sites. Teacher candidates are placed in diverse classrooms within a 70-mile radius of either the Statesboro or Armstrong campus.

Note: This policy does NOT apply to candidates in fully online MAT programs in Elementary Education, Health and Physical Education, Spanish Education, and Special Education.

Each year, formal agreements are established between the College of Education and participating school districts to define the roles and responsibilities of all partners involved in educator preparation.
