Major Field Test

Offered in Savannah & Statesboro

This is a graduation requirement.
Contact your academic department to determine if you need to take this test and if the exam is administered by the department or through the Office of Testing Services.

Who needs to take this test?

Any student graduating and majoring in the following academic areas.

• Mathematics
• Physics

Registration Fee

The test fee is $45 and the payment fee is being covered by the Physics and Mathematics departments, respectively.

Scheduling

The Statesboro Campus administers the MFT Exams by appointment Monday through Friday between 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, based on availability in Cone Hall Room 2004. Students can call 912-478-5415 or email testing@georgiasouthern.edu to schedule an appointment.

The Savannah Campus administers the MFT Exams by appointment Monday through Friday between 8:30 am – 3:00 pm, based on availability in the testing lab. To schedule an appointment, contact the Testing Office at 912-344-2582 or testingsav@georgiasouthern.edu to schedule your testing date. All exams are administered in the Student Success Complex, Room 1025.

Test Preparation

The MFT is a two-hour exam computer-based exam. Students graduating with their degree in Mathematics and Physics are required to take the exam. Click here to learn about the test content and sample questions. It is recommended that all students review the test content information prior to testing.

Testing Day  

Arrive at the test site 15 minutes prior to the test administration with your photo identification and a copy of your paid receipt.  No admittance to an exam without proof of payment and a picture ID.

Picture identification required for all tests. Please make sure you bring an acceptable ID.

Acceptable IDs: a valid state driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued photo identifications. (Not accepted: Eagle ID’s, check cashing cards, picture credit cards, Sam’s cards, etc.)
