Ed.S. in School Psychology Program Overview

Discover how Georgia Southern’s flexible Ed.S. program prepares you to launch your career in school psychology.

What You’ll Learn

A combination of classroom work and hands-on experiences builds a comprehensive framework and skill set that equips you to fulfill the responsibilities of a school psychologist, including conducting psychoeducational assessments; planning and implementing interventions; collaborating with teachers, parents and other professionals; and using evidence-based practices to help shape the future of the profession.

Upon completion of 36 credit hours (including a practicum) and passing a comprehensive examination, you will earn an interim M.Ed. degree and continue on to the remainder of the program. During these sequences, coursework progresses from foundational counseling, development and behavioral intervention theories to a more specialized study of assessment and response in a school setting.

Throughout, you’ll develop your professional effectiveness and apply your knowledge through a practicum and an in-depth 1,200-hour internship.
