The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program is open to those with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous undergraduate and graduate coursework.

For Admission Into the Instructional Technology Concentration or the Dual Certification Concentration:

Candidates must possess or be eligible for a renewable Georgia Level 4 or higher Induction, Professional, Advanced Professional or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service field certificate, Life certificate or an equivalent out-of-state Level 4 or higher certificate. 

Candidates who have completed all requirements for the Georgia Level 4 teaching certificate have until the end of the first semester to obtain the certificate. Candidates with an out-of-state certificate will not receive Georgia certification upon program completion.

For Admission Into the School Library Media Concentration:

Candidates may or may not possess a teaching certificate. Candidates who possess or are eligible for a renewable Georgia Level 4 or higher certificate or who have an equivalent out-of-state certificate should submit a copy of their certification. Candidates who have completed all requirements for the Georgia Level 4 teaching certificate have until the end of the first semester to obtain their certificate. Candidates with an out-of-state certificate will not receive Georgia certification upon program completion.

Candidates may also pursue this concentration without prior Georgia certification as an initial certification in Georgia.

To Apply, Please Submit:

  • An online application. (There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee.)
  • A completed “Disclosure and Affirmation Form” that addresses misconduct disclosure, the Code of Ethics for Educators and tort liability insurance. (This is included within the online application.)
  • A background check will be required for applicants who do not hold a Georgia Teaching certificate.

International transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-accredited evaluation service and must be a course-by-course evaluation and include a GPA.

Application Deadline

Students are admitted to begin the program in the fall, spring and summer terms. The application deadlines are:

Fall – July 1

Spring – November 1

Summer – April 1

Your application and all required documents must be received by the deadline.

Provisional Admission

Applicants may be approved for provisional admission based on the quality of the admission material presented. Provisional students must earn grades of “B” or higher in their first nine hours of coursework after admission and meet any other stipulations outlined by the Department to be converted to regular status.

About Our Online Programs

For All Online Programs

The M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program is approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) as a program leading to certification in Instructional Technology, School Library Media or Dual certification in both areas.

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development anticipates that graduates of the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program will be eligible to seek professional certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission as a certified teacher/leader in their respective fields.

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development has determined the required classes and educational activities of these academic programs will qualify a graduate of this program to take the GACE exams for Instructional Technology and/or School Library Media certifications in Georgia. The Department has not determined whether these programs satisfy the requirements of all states and territories for certification in Instructional Technology and/or School Library Media.

Professional Certification Disclosure

The College of Education anticipates that graduates of the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program will seek state licenses or certifications.
The programs listed above lead to a Georgia Certificate Upgrade. Visit the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for more information. The College of Education has not determined where its programs will qualify a graduate to take the required exams in other states or territories. Check the requirements of your state or territory using the link provided.
