Applicants for the M.S. in Information Technology program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in information technology, computer science, computer engineering, information systems or a closely related field of study.
If your bachelor’s degree is not in one of these fields, you must have at least two years of work experience in IT.
To apply, please submit:
- An online application. (There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee.)
- Official GRE or GMAT scores. (The GRE or GMAT exam may be waived if you have three or more years of work experience in IT or a closely related field.)
- Transcripts for all prior college- and graduate-level work. Copies can be uploaded with your application; foreign transcript evaluations must be received by the Office of Graduate Admissions; official transcript copies sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions will be required for admitted students.
International applicants must meet College of Graduate Studies English Proficiency requirements.
Application Deadlines
Students are admitted to begin in the fall and spring terms. The deadlines are:
Fall: Priority – March 1; Final – July 1
Spring: Priority – Oct. 1; Final – Nov. 15
Your application and all required documents must be received by the deadline.
Provisional Admission
A student may be granted provisional admission based upon the recommendation of the Master of Science in Information Technology Graduate Program Coordinator or Department Chair.

For students interested in proceeding directly from undergraduate to graduate studies, Georgia Southern offers a Master of Science in Information Technology Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s (MSIT-ABM) program.
The MSIT-ABM program integrates 124 credit hours from the B.S. in Information Technology into the 150 unique hours required across both undergraduate and graduate programs, thereby accelerating the completion of the MSIT program’s requirements. This option is available for both the thesis and non-thesis master’s in information technology tracks.
