The Georgia Southern University Foundation plays a crucial role in ensuring the University continues to thrive by raising, investing and distributing the private funds necessary to support programs, scholarships, projects, facilities and research that elevate Georgia Southern’s reputation for excellence.
While tuition, fees and state funding cover the basic operational costs of the University, they do not provide for the many “extras” that enhance the student experience and drive our academic and research ambitions. Private support from the Foundation helps bridge this gap, funding critical initiatives that add value to a Georgia Southern education and foster regional service and innovation.
Supporting Key Areas of Impact
The Foundation helps meet special needs across many areas of the University, including:
- Instructional projects that enrich academic offerings
- Cultural outreach and community engagement initiatives
- Admissions programs that attract top talent
- International student activities and support
- The Southern Pride Marching Band and other student organizations
- Vital campus programs such as the Georgia Southern University Museum, The Garden of the Coastal Plain, the Center for Wildlife Education and the Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center
- Arts and culture initiatives, including the Performing Arts Center, and much more
These programs, along with many others, are essential to Georgia Southern’s continued growth and impact, and they would not be possible without the generosity of donors through the Foundation.
