SOAR, Georgia Southern’s orientation, is your required first step before enrolling in classes. This program offered via online modules allows you to gain a better understanding of campus life and the resources available to you, ensuring a smooth transition to becoming a Georgia Southern Eagle.

NOTE: Dual Enrollment students have specialized orientation requirements and SOAR is not required for readmit, transient, and post-baccalaureate students.

As you prepare for your first day of classes, we want to ensure you complete all the steps to be successful and have a smooth transition. Some items are time-sensitive and can directly impact your enrollment. Review the enrollment checklist and let us know if you need any assistance!

Transfer Student Enrollment Checklist

SOAR Session Details

Students are required to complete a series of asynchronous Online Orientation Modules to satisfy their SOAR requirement. 

Students wishing to attend in-person are welcome to join us for one of our Transfer Visit Days on either the Statesboro or Armstrong campuses. Students that attend Transfer Visit Day must still complete the Online Orientation Modules to fulfill their SOAR requirement.

SOAR registration for Spring 2027 will open on October 1st, 2026.

SOAR Requirements

Transfer and Adult students are not required to attend a “live” SOAR session. These student types will be required to complete a series of asynchronous Online Orientation modules to satisfy their SOAR requirement and register for classes. Please review the timeline below for more information.

Transfer/Adult SOAR Timeline

  • October 1st, 2026 – Spring 2027 SOAR registration opens in the Status Portal. Students should complete registration and pay the SOAR commitment fee to gain access to next steps. 
  • Upon SOAR Reservation: Spring 2027 Online Orientation Modules become available for those that have registered and paid the SOAR commitment fee. These modules are required to be completed in their entirety to retain class schedule.
  • January 4th, 2027 – Deadline to complete Online Orientation Modules. Students accepted after January 1st, 2027, will have until the first day of classes to complete these modules. 

SOAR Commitment Fees

Transfer/Adult:

  • Student- $60
    • Includes: Access to virtual modules, Student materials including Georgia Southern t-shirt mailed to your home, trained staff to assist in your transition
