The Southeast Coastal Conference on Languages & Literatures (SECCLL) returns in 2027! The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Georgia Southern University is excited to invite scholars and educators to Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus in beautiful Savannah, Georgia!
SECCLL brings educators from across the southeast and beyond together to Savannah for two days of engaging conversation and collaboration. Historically, this event has attracted experts from both public and private institutions of higher education. We create a collegial, informal and respectful environment marked by a rigorous and productive exchange among academics.
Submit a Presentation
For over two decades, SECCLL has been a friendly and engaging gathering of teachers and scholars to share research, innovative teaching practices, and creative work related to languages, literatures, and cultures. We invite proposals for individual 20-minute papers, panels of three individual 20-minute papers on a common topic or theme, as well as roundtables. Presentations may address a wide range of subfields related to language study, and presenters are welcome to present in English or in the language they teach or study.
We especially welcome presentations that engage with current issues shaping the study, teaching, and use of languages and cultures, including—but not limited to—career readiness, content creation and creative writing, emerging technologies, interdisciplinary approaches to language education and research, student recruitment and retention, and study abroad and study away.

Deborah Reisinger, Ph.D.
Deb Reisinger, Ph.D. is Dean of Undergraduate Education at Duke University. A professor of French Studies and affiliate faculty in Global Health and Markets & Management, Deb directs Duke’s Language Outreach Initiatives, including Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum and the Shared Online Consortium for LCTLs.
Deb’s work explores the connections between language learning and the disciplines. She is lead author ofAffaires globales: S’engager dans le monde professionnel en francais, niveau avancé and co-author ofCommunity-based Language Learning, a methodology of critical service-learning in world languages. In 2022, she was named Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Republic.
