Given the most current weather information available and out of an abundance of caution, Georgia Southern University will move to reduced operations on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

Only essential personnel should be on campus on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

University-sponsored events and athletic events on all campuses are canceled on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

Housing on all campuses will remain open. Students living on campus are encouraged to shelter in place in their residence halls on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1.

Friday, Jan. 30, 2026

  • The Dining Commons on the Statesboro Campus, The Galley Dining Commons on the Armstrong Campus, and the Richard L. Brown Dining Hall on the Swainsboro Campus will be open until 7 p.m. Students with dining plans will be able to pick up to-go options for Saturday and Sunday on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026

  • All dining locations will be closed.

Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026

  • All dining locations will be closed.

Georgia Southern Libraries will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 1. While the library buildings will be closed, library resources will continue to be fully accessible. Faculty, staff and students can access the complete collection of e-books and electronic databases without interruption by visiting the library‘s website at https://www.georgiasouthern.edu/library.

The University will continue to assess weather conditions and will alert students, faculty and staff regarding Monday’s University operations as soon as possible on Sunday, Feb. 1. 

Any changes to University operations will be announced via EAGLE ALERT, the University’s emergency notification system, and will be posted to The University Alert Center.

Georgia Southern – East Georgia Augusta location students, faculty, and staff should follow guidelines provided by Augusta University through the JagAlert emergency notification system.
