Clinical Specialist in Advanced Imaging Certificate

Format: Fully Online
Credit Hours: 18

At Georgia Southern University, the Department of Clinical Sciences offers a Clinical Specialist in Advanced Imaging Certificate with concentrations in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging or mammography.

Coursework for this certificate program is concentrated on advanced clinical skills, such as CT, MRI or mammography. The didactic component is designed to meet structured education requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam in the specified post-primary category. Credentialed radiographers, radiation therapists, sonographers, and nuclear medicine technologists, certified by the ARRT (R, T, N,), NMTCB (CNMT), or ARDMS (RDMS), may qualify to complete this certificate program. Completion of this certificate program will lead to eligibility to become certified in CT, MRI or mammography.

Students interested in the certificate program must understand that there is a potential to being exposed to a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) environment. The MRI environment consists of strong magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves which may be contraindicated for individuals that have devices implanted in or on their body that should not be subjected to an MRI environment. Additional information regarding MRI safety can be found on the internet and at www.mrisafety.com.
