Accreditation

Health Services is committed to providing high-quality care and demonstrates this commitment through an on-going process of self-evaluation, peer review and education to continuously improve its care and services. The goal is to provide students with the best care possible including convenient access to health care. Our students’ healthcare matters.

Health Services has received recognition by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC) as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This is the highest achievement for primary care. It is a mark of excellence honoring the fact that Georgia Southern University Health Services adopts best practices and complies with nationally recognized standards of care. For our students, it provides comforting reassurance that they will receive high-quality care when they need it.

AAAHC, or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979 to assist ambulatory health care organizations in improving the quality of care provided to patients. It accomplishes this by establishing, reviewing, and revising standards, measuring performance and providing consultation and education.

Accreditation by AAAHC means that Health Services has undergone a thorough, independent survey of its policies and practices against nationally-recognized standards. The accreditation process involves self-assessment by the organization, followed by an on-site review conducted by AAAHC surveyors, who are themselves health care professionals. Information regarding the AAAHC can be found on this website by clicking here.
