GRE General Reasoning
The GRE- General Reasoning tests are used for graduate admission. The GRE is a computer-based testing (CBT). Georgia Southern does not currently administer this test, but we do have information available.

Georgia Southern University Statesboro Campus (STN13816A) offers the GRE General Reasoning based on ETS opening dates.
The second option is to test at home which offers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Testing Dates
The exam is administered by appointment Monday through Friday with some sites offering it on Saturday year-round at the ETS-authorized test center. Or, 7 days a week when choosing the option to test at home.
The GRE is composed of analytical writing, verbal, and quantitative sections. The exam is three hours and 45 minutes.
DESCRIPTION
Analytical Writing
- Two writing tasks:
- Analyze an issue- 30 minutes
- Analyze an argument – 30 minutes
Verbal Reasoning
Measures the ability to analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it, analyze relationships among component parts of sentences, and recognize relationships between words and concepts. Verbal Reasoning measure contains three types of questions:
- Reading Comprehension
- Text Completion
- Sentence Equivalence
- Two Sections, 20 questions per section, 30 minutes per section
Quantitative Reasoning
Measures basic math skills and understanding of elementary math concepts, as well as the ability to reason quantitatively and to model and solve problems in a quantitative setting.
- Two sections, 20 questions per section, 35 minutes per section
Two additional sections both of which are unscored.
An optional 10-minute rest break is offered following the third section.
