13th Annual International Festival

Activities

GLOBAL VILLAGE
Elementary, middle and high schools, as well as home and charter schools, from various surrounding counties team with international students from the Georgia Southern Global Ambassadors Program to create educational country booths. These booths will form the Global Village which will represent several countries. Factual information, arts & crafts, and other educational activities will be available at each booth. Come see what the students create! Global Village Guidelines

Schools participating this year and countries represented are:  Brazil (Screven County Middle School), England (Effingham College & Career Academy STEM), France (South Effingham High School), Honduras (Southeast Bulloch High School), India (William James Middle School), and Japan (Swainsboro Middle School).

“IT’S A SMALL WORLD”
Free international arts & crafts for children: Brazilian Masks, England Crowns, Eiffel Tower, Dea de la Crux Crosses, Lotus Flowers, Japanese Hanging Fish, Henna Hand Print Tattoos, Face Painting, Japanese Calligraphy & Origami, Arabic Calligraphy, and Global Village Search!

WORLD CRAFT BAZAAR
Purchase unique items from China, Ghana, Haiti, India, Kenya, Korea, the Philippines, Peru, Taiwan, and Trinidad!

INTERNATIONAL FOOD COURT
Sample international foods from various countries such as China, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Japan, Latin American countries, Nigeria, the Philippines, Thailand, and Mexico!

WORLD STAGE
Cultural entertainment will be performed on the World Stage including music, dance and more! Exclusive Sponsor of the World Stage is the Office of the Registrar!

How to Volunteer

If you would like to volunteer at the International Festival, please fill out the volunteer form or email Angie Threatte at athreatte@georgiasouthern.edu

Areas you may assist in:

Directions to Mill Creek Regional Park

From I-16 (Macon)

Travel east on I-16 until you come to the Statesboro/Claxton exit (Exit 116). Exit right onto off-ramp. Turn left onto Hwy 301 North to Statesboro. Travel until you reach Veterans Memorial Parkway. Take a right onto the bypass.  Stay on the bypass until you reach E. Main St./Hwy 24. Take a right and Mill Creek Regional Park and Splash in the Boro are approximately 1 mile on the right (through 1 traffic light). Enter through the main (second) entrance. Take first paved road to left – directly across from soccer field.

From I-16 (Savannah)

Travel west on I-16 until you come to the Statesboro exit (Exit 127). Exit right onto off-ramp. Turn right onto Hwy 67 North to Statesboro. Travel on Hwy 67 North until you reach Veterans Memorial Parkway. Take a right and stay on until you reach E. Main St./Hwy 24. Mill Creek Regional Park and Splash in the Boro are approximately 1 mile on the right (through 1 traffic light). Enter through the main (second) entrance.  Take first paved road to left – directly across from soccer field.

From Hwy 25/80 (Augusta/Swainsboro)

Travel east on Hwy 80. Upon entering Statesboro, travel to East Main Street and  take a left onto East Main Street (Hwy 24 to Oliver/Newington). Travel approximately 3 miles (through 2 traffic lights) and Mill Creek Regional Park and Splash in the Boro are on the right. Enter through the main (second) entrance. Take first paved road to left – directly across from soccer field.
